In 1800, by age 20, St. Madeleine Sophie Barat founded the Society of the Sacred Heart as a congregation of women educators. In 1818, by age 49, St. Rose Philippine Duchesne established the first society house in the United States known as the Academy of the Sacred Heart in St. Charles, Missouri.

All medals have been blessed by a St. Louis Archdiocesan priest. 

The St. Madeleine Sophie/St. Rose Philippine Medal is available in silver plated (a base of non-precious metal with a thin layer of silver over it), gold plated (a base of non-precious metal with a thin layer of gold over it), sterling silver (92.5% pure silver), and vermeil (base sterling silver with a layer of gold over it). 

The medal measures 1.125" X 1.5". 

The St. Madeleine Sophie/St. Rose Philippine Medal is not available for engraving as St. Madeleine Sophie is on one side and St. Rose Philippine is on the other.
